A frog fell down a 10-foot well. He cannot hop out, so he has to climb out. He climbs three feet a day, but during the night, while resting, he slips back two feet. At this rate, how many days will it take the frog to climb out of the well?

The Answer:
The frog makes one foot of progress every twenty-four hours. So after seven days and nights, he has climbed seven feet. On the eighth day, he will climb the remaining three feet, bringing him to the top of the well, from where he will jump to the ground. In all, his journey will take eight days.
